Ueda City in Nagano Prefecture prospered through silkworm cultivation. SHIROSHITA has been involved in raw silk production since 1923.
Silkworms feed on mulberry leaves and spin silk cocoons, from which silk is made. In the past, mulberry fields were everywhere, and as children, we used to eat the mulberries on our way home from school.
In June, the mulberry trees on our factory grounds bear fruit, and the mulberries become sweet when fully ripe.
